A court here has sentenced one person to 17 years' in jail in an arms case.

District and Sessions Judge, Rajbari Belayet Hossain awarded the verdict against the convict Salah Ahmed Sujon on Wednesday.

The prosecution story in brief, is that, police arrested Sujon from Daulatdia Launch ghat under Rajbari district with a 22-bore pistol and 41 bullets on August 17,2006.

The police filed chargesheet against him with the court after investigation.

The judge after examining prosecution witnesses and relevant evidence pronounced the judgement.

In another arms case, the assistant judge of Special

Tribunal-4 of Rajbari, Rafiqul Islam sentenced three persons to 7 years' in jail the same day.

The accused were arrested on July 13, 2005 with firearms from Nivanan village under Pangsha upazila of the district.

The judge declared the verdict against Channu, Moslem and Shaukat alias Bellah after hearing both the sides.
