Work for taking photographs of voters begins in dists

Four centers were opened here on Sunday for taking photographs of the voters in the Pourasabha areas for preparing an electoral roll and national identity card.

Commander of 18-East Bengal Regiment Lieutenant Colonel Jahirul Islam formally inaugurated the work at a function at Majida Adarsha Degree Collage ground.

Earlier, a colourful rally was brought out from the Deputy Commissioner office in the district and ended at the ground after parading several streets in the town.

District Election Commission office sources said the work would continue in the pourasabha on November 22 next.

BSS, Dinajpur adds: Registration of voters for preparing the voter list with photographs and national identity cards has began here on Sunday.

Commander of 16th Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army Brigadier General AMM Wazed Ali Thakur was present as chief guest at the inaugural function, held on the occasion, at Adarsha Collage ground in the town. With deputy commissioner AM Saiful Hasan in the chair, the function, was also addressed, among others, by commander of Dinajpur sector of Bangladesh Riffles (BDR) Colonel Rezaul Kabir Reza, commander of the district joint force Lieutenant Colonel Najmul Hasan, police super Mostafa Kamal, chairman of the pourasabha Shafiqul Haque Chhutu and district election officer Nuruzzaman Talukdar.

The function was told that the works for taking photographs would continue till November 20 this year in the pourashabha and 90 wards in 12 unions under sadar upazila in the district.
