20 shops gutted in Mathbaria UNB, Pirojpur A devastating fire gutted at least 20 shops in Mathbaria bazar on Wednesday afternoon. Shop owners said the fire originated from a sweet meat shop at about 4-45pm when a kerosene stove burst. Soon the fire engulfed the adjacent shops. Fire fighters from Mathbaria, Patharghata and Bhandaria struggled for more than an hour to bring the flames under control. The affected shop owners claimed the loss at about Tk 1 crore.
