A discussion on Women's role in checking Tuberculosis was held at local pourasabha auditorium on Saturday.

National Tuberculosis Prevention Association organised the discussion with eminent specialist for cardiovascular disease Dr Habibur Rahman in the chair.

Sadar upazila health and family planning officer Dr Nuruzzaman was the chief guest. Among others, Ahamad Ali, Ataur Rahman, Aktar Banu and Kamrul Hasan, among others, spoke on the occasion.

The speakers said tuberculosis is not a fatal disease as the patients are being fully cured through proper treatment now.

They also referred to the government programme, under which a tuberculosis patient could take proper treatment free of cost.

The discussion was told that some 300 people in the district are being attacked by tuberculosis every year.
