Strengthen AG office to ensure transparency: Law Adviser BSS, Dhaka Law and Information Adviser Barrister Mainul Hosein yesterday underlined the need for strengthening the Auditor General's office as the accountability of the people's money paid as tax depends on the empowerment of the organisation. He urged the concerned officials for accelerating the process of preparing the draft of Audit Act in order to strengthen and empower the Auditor General's office for ensuring transparency. The Adviser made the call while uncovering the Audit Directorate's Manual 2007 at Audit Bhaban here as the chief guest. Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of Bangladesh Asif Ali chaired the function. Law Secretary Kazi Habibul Awal was present on the occasion. Appreciating the manual, he said success of all jobs depend on proper planning and strategic guidelines on the rules and regulations. The Adviser stressed developing skilled auditors for ensuring quality and effective audit to maintain transparency and accountability of the government. Mainul said five of the audit departments of the country out of the total 10 had no manuals earlier and the publication of manuals will help the departments raising their skill and efficiency. He said the government has constituted the Regulatory Commission on Rules and Regulations as it gives priority to amend and reform the old rules and regulations for infusing dynamism into the administration.
