Pre-paid electric meters will be installed in Jessore town from the beginning of next year.

Power Development Board sources said in the first phase pre- paid meters will be installed at small and medium industries in the town. The meters will be provided free of cost among the consumers of the town within one and a half years.

Under the new system the consumers could use electricity as much as they pay for a card. Electric connections would be snatched off automatically when the cards money will be finished.

However, the consumers will get the facility of holiday. If the tenure of the card finishes after office hours on Thursday, the electric connections will not be snapped on Fridays and Saturdays.
