Four children drowned in different places in the district on Thursday, police sources said.

The sources said Sumi Akhter, 7, daughter of Anwar Mollah of ward no 29 of Barisal city corporation slipped into a pond beside their house while she was playing.

In another incident, Kazol, 2, daughter of Zaharul Huq of Ashokathi village under Gournadi upazila drowned in a pond near her house on Thursday afternoon.

Besides, Sabbir, 4, son of Haroon Bepari and Shanta, 3, daughter of Hasan Bepari of Kamalapur village drowned in a pond as they slipped into a pond when they were playing.
