Hannan Shah being quizzed at Cantt thana Staff Reporter Tejgaon police is interrogating detained Brig Gen (Retd) ASM Hannan Shah, Adviser of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, at the city's Cantonment Police Station for security reason and to avoid public rush. He was taken on a three-day remand after his arrest by Tejgaon police from his DOHS residence in Mohakhali on Wednesday midnight for violating the Emergency Powers Rules (EPR). Three other BNP men who were also arrested on the same charges were being quizzed by Tejgaon police. Hannan Shah and 31 others, including 25 unnamed individuals, were charged with assaulting Saifur-led BNP Standing Committee member Lt Gen (Retd) Mahbubur Rahman and chasing some other leaders from the mazar of late President Ziaur Rahman on the National Revolution and Solidarity Day. "We have kept Hannan Shah at the Cantonment Police Station to avoid public rush and for his security," said Sub-inspector Asaduzzaman, investigation officer into the case and added, "The other three persons arrested in this connection were kept at Tejgaon police custody." When asked why Hannan Shah was being interrogated at Cantonment PS, he told The New Nation, "Our custody is not secure enough."
