The Mayor of Khulna, Sheikh Tayebur Rahman, was given on 3-day police remand when he was produced before the court yesterday five-day remand in connection with arms case. The court rejected his bail petition.

Police filed the arms case against the Mayor after the law enforcers recovered pipe gun along with some ammunition from his residence on November 3. He was arrested earlier on Nov 1 from Gulshan in Dhaka City.

Tayebur Rahman, also a BNP leader, faces eight cases of extortion, corruption, drug and illegal arms.
