Col Rashid's interview not re-telecast

Staff Reporter

The first part of the interview of Bangabandhu's self-proclaimed killer and absconding convict Lt Col (Retd) Khondaker Abdur Rashid was not re-telecast in the Channel I yesterday.

The first part of the interview was telecast in the Channel I's Grameenphone-Tritio Matra programme after Tuesday midnight. It was scheduled to be re-telecast yesterday (Wednesday) morning.

But, in a special announcement it was told that the interview could not be re-telecast following some problems appeared in the video cassette. Afterward, an old recorded interview was telecast in the Tritio-Matra. Many questions have raised after the telecasting of the interview after Tuesday midnight. It seemed that the interview was 'pre-planned' and an attempt to save Lt Col (Retd) Rashid.

The Channel I authorities said the interview would be telecast in five parts.

A source close to the Channel I told The New Nation yesterday that the rest four episodes of the interview of Col (Retd) Rashid would no more be telecast.

In the interview telecast on Tuesday night, Lt Col (Retd) Rashid said Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is the Father of the Nation. And the role of the then Major Ziaur Rahman should not be compared with Sheikh Mujib in any way. "It is narrowness of the mind to compare Zia with Mujib," he said.
