Extra fertiliser for cultivation of crops BSS, Tangail Health Adviser Major General (retd) Dr ASM Matiur Rahman has said the government would consider supplying extra fertilisers for cultivation of some special crops according to the demand of the farmers. "Pineapple and banana cultivators of Madhupur upazila of the district will be provided with additional quantity of fertilizer considering their demand," the adviser said this while exchanging views with professionals and government officials on distribution of urea and prices of essentials at Madhupur upazila auditorium here on Saturday. Dr Matiur said the government has an adequate stock of fertilizer and is supplying it according to the demand. He asked the authorities concerned to remain alert so that none could create panic building up illegal stock or procuring excess fertilizer beyond his demand. "All the farmers will get necessary fertilizer if the artificial crisis can be prevented," he said. Later, the adviser visited the Idilpur Community Clinic where he said the government was trying to reach healthcare facilities to the doorsteps of the people. Dr Matiur said, "Many of the third world countries have no healthcare infrastructures like ours and we must ensure optimum use of those." He said that measures have been taken to make all the earlier built 11,000 community clinics operative. Earlier, about 3,000 community clinics out of 11,000 were made operative. The present government took an initiative to start the rest clinics from November 1.
