A labourer was killed on the spot following explosion of a boiler in village Kashitara under Sapahar upazila in Naogaon on Thursday evening, police sources said.

The sources said labourer Hamidur Rahman, 34, son of Afaz Uddin of village Polashbari in the upazila was engaged in boiling paddy at the 'Chatal' of Borendra Rice Mills on the day.

At one stage, the boiler was exploded with a big bang while Hamidur was boiling paddy, as a result his body was severely burnt with the hot water that killed him on the spot.

Sapahar police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it for autopsy to Naogaon Sadar Hospital on Friday and later, handed over the body to his relatives.

A UD case was filed in this connection with Sapahar police station, the sources said.
