Speakers at a seminar in the city yesterday called upon the government to turn Khilgaon Rehabilitation Area into a residential area as per the Master Plan.

They also urged to stop the government rehabilitation plan beside the officers' quarters in the west of Matir mosque under the ward No 23. Chowdhurypara Children's Park in the same ward should be free from the occupants and opened to the public, they opined.

They made the call at a seminar titled "Jeopardised Khilgaon Residential Area and Remedies" jointly organised by Bangladesh Paribesh Andolon (BAPA) and Khilgaon Samjik Sangstha at the National Press Club. Prof Muzaffar Ahmed was present as chief guest, while former minister Mostafa Jamal Haider and eminent economist Prof Anu Muhammad as special guests.
