A court here has sentenced three persons to 17 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) in an arms case.

Judge of the of the special tribunal-2 Shahidullah Bakaul handed down the verdict on Wednesday.

The convicts are Kamal Mondal, Hurmat Ali and Lokman Hossain of Kasbamajail area in Pangsha upazila.

Court sources said police arrested the three from a house of one Banchit Mondal at Mashalia village in Pangsha and recovered a shutter gun, two rounds of bullet and a sharp weapon from their possession on January 26, 2006.

Police lodged a case with Pangsha thana in this connection.

Of the convicts, Kamal is also an accused in the Pangsha thana Officer-in Charge Mizan murder case.
