Supply of safe drinking water to be ensured in Habiganj Poura area

BSS, Habiganj

The supply of safe drinking water in the Habiganj Pourasabha area will be increased to another four lakh gallons daily after completion of the construction of water treatment plant in June next year.

Sources at the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) said with completion of the project the number of households under the Habiganj Pourasabha's Water Supply Projects will be increased to 3,200 which is at present 1,600 households.

However, the Taka four crore project could not be able to meet the total demand for water, said the sources.

For 7,000 households of the Habiganj Pourasabha a total of 52 lakh gallons of water is needed for daily requirements, the sources added.

Acting chairman of Habiganj Pourasabha Khaled Jewel told BSS that the consumers have been eagerly waiting to get water connections in their households and we are trying our best to complete the project within the stipulated time.
