Call to create working environment for sculptors

Staff Reporter

Gold medallist international sculptor Rasha, who also has achieved National Award three times, yesterday urged the present Caretaker Government to take necessary steps for the furtherance exploration of art, including sculpture, and national heritage through creating working environment for the sculptors.

At a press conference held at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), Rasha, who has also been leading several social, environmental and national movements for the last 36 years, congratulated the present government and said, "This is the time to consider his request for the excellence of sculpture art, as the government is non-political and impartial in nature."

"None of the political governments in the past evaluated the quality of persons due to their political weakness and vindictive mentalities", sculptor Rasha, who is also a successful Yogi, alleged and said, "Since the '1/11', a moral drive has been launched which, I think, would evaluate the quality and meritorious persons in the art sector of the country also."

Sculptor Rasha also urged the government to consider his recommendations at the request of the present Director General of the Shilpa-Kala Accademy for the improvement of the national art and heritage.
