Demand to implement proposed power plant at Thakurgaon BSS, Thakurgaon Increasing demand for power in Thakurgaon and Panchagarh districts could be fulfilled by immediately implementing the proposed 20 MW power plant. Power Development Board (PDB) sources said the demand for electricity in two districts is 40 MW which goes up to 50 megawatt during boro season. The situation has slightly improved after the joint forces taken some initiatives in this regard. At present the two districts have been getting only 15 to 16 MW power which is very insufficient. In 2001 a high-level government committee proposed to set up a 20 MW power plant at Thakurgaon to solve the power crisis and accordingly PDB has started site development after acquiring land. But after sometime the development work has been stopped.
