Border management important component of bilateral ties says Iftekhar UNB, Dhaka Foreign Advisor Dr. Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury on Thursday said border management is an important component of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and India. He made the remarks to reporters after visiting Indian BSF chief A.K. Mitra made a courtesy call on him at the Foreign Ministry. Mitra is leading his country's delegation to the Director General level border conference that began here at BDR Headquarters today. The Adviser expressed his satisfaction at the on-going discussions between the BDR and the BSF and hoped that this would result in agreements that would further strengthen bilateral relations between Bangladesh and India. "We are pleased that we have been able to structuralize negotiations with regard to these through more frequent meetings," he said. Indian High Commissioner Pinak Ranjan Chakraborty and Major General Shakil Ahmed, Director General of BDR were present among others in the meeting.
