Sheikh Hasina, younger daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, yesterday expressed her profound shock and dismay at the issuance of warrant of arrest by a court in Dhaka yesterday.

She alleged that the warrant of arrest was issued against her to defame her before the people of Bangladesh.

"It has been done with a view to humiliating me," she told the BBC Bangla Service yesterday evening.

Rehana, who has been living in London over the last ten years along with her husband and children, said though she had been living abroad for ten years, her name was included in the 'illogical' case.

When asked whether she would return to the country to face the case, Rehana said she would take the next steps according to the advice of her lawyers.

"But, I want to make it clear that I am not afraid of anything false and fabricated," she said.
