A high-level investigation committee has been formed here to probe the allegation of taking bribe against a CID inspector.

Sources said CID Inspector Haripada Biswas demanded Tk 24,000 from Abu Hena Alam of Senpur village in Tala upazila to enlist names of the accused of a case, filed by him, in the charge sheet. Abu Hena Alam gave Tk 3,000 to Haripada at his office on Wednesday but before giving him the money he informed the matter to the local army camp and police super.

As per the instruction of the police super, two Sub Inspectors of Sadar thana entered into the office of Haripada and searched his body. Later, they recovered the money from under the table. Admitting the incident, police super Mirza Abdullahel Baki said the investigation committee has been formed as per the instruction of IGP. He said, "legal action will be taken against him on the basis of the probe committee report".
