Police arrested six bandits from Beraieder Chala area under Sripur upazila in the district on Thursday night, Police sources said.

The sources said working on a secret information local people in the area encircled six people on suspicion as bandits. The police rushed to the scene and nabbed the six people from there.

Later, on interrogation, the arrested in their confessional statement said they were taking preparation for committing dacoity. The police said the arrested are accused of several cases lodged with different thanas in the district.

BSS, Gaibandha adds: The police in separate drives arrested 15 people from different spots at seven upazilas of the district on Wednesday. Of them Sadar thana police picked up four persons, while five were arrested by Sadullapur thana, one by Fulchhari thana, three by Sundarganj thana, one by Gaibanda and one in Sughata upazila, police said.

The arrested persons included absconding warrantees, drug peddlers and suspected criminals.

The arrested were sent to jail hajat after producing them before concerned courts.

Meanwhile, the DB police recovered 120 pounds of local wine from under a seat of rickshaw in the town on the same day.
