Rangpur police in separate drives conducted last night arrested a total of 27 persons on different charges from various places in the district, Police sources said.

According to the sources, the arrested persons include absconding warrantees and accused persons in different cases, terrorists, smugglers, drug-peddlers, muggers, thieves and other anti-social elements.

Police also recovered good quantities of stolen goods, ganja, phensidyl, locally produced fermented wine and other illegal goods during the drives.

Of the arrested, Kotwali police netted 11 persons, Gangachara one, Badarganj one, Mithapukur two, Pirganj three, Pirgacha five, Kawnia one and DB police arrested three ganja addicts during the period, the sources said. The arrested persons were sent to jail hajat when police produced them before different Rangpur courts, the sources added.
