Fixing Fitra Islamic Foundation, Dhaka, has fixed our Fitra for the year 2007 at the rate of Taka 55.00 per person being the cost of 1 kg and 650 gram ata/maida. One thing is not clear to us. Most of us observe Mahe-Ramzan and celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha, etc., on the basis of sighting of moon only in our own country and not in a foreign country like Saudi Arabia, Pakistan or Indonesia. Similarly, the Bangladeshis eat rice more than ata/maida. So, why don't we consider and take into account the price and weight of our staple food rice instead of ata/maida to fix our Fitra? Would our learned ulema and readers kindly enlighten us on the matter? O.H. Kabir Dhaka
