The target of Aus paddy production could not be achieved in the district in the current season. Farmers said some 98,240 mts of paddy have been produced against the target of 1.19 lakh mts.

Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) sources said some 55,336 hectares of land were cultivated exceeding the target of 50,135 hectares in the current season but the output target was not achieved due to various reasons.

While contacted DAE deputy director Ashim Kumar told that unfavorable weather and shortage of quality seeds were the main reasons behind shortfall in production.
