Expat held with $60,000 in Ctg

Security people on Friday nabbed a homebound expatriate from Dubai and seized US $ 60 thousand from him near Shah Amanat International Airport (SAIA).

Informed sources said that acting on tip a coast guard team challenged Iqbal Mohammad Nizam while he was set for his village home at Rowzan in northern Chitagong at about 1:10 p.m.

The coast guard men after searching his luggage found US $ 60,000 cleverly hidden in a packet of detergent The money was brought in without declaration. Car driver of the expatriate - Mohammad Shafi - was also taken into custody for questioning.

Earlier, the expatriate had flown to the SAIA from Dubai by a foreign airline. Although he landed at the airport at about 9:30 in the morning, he had been spoiling time with an ill intention. Finally he came out of the airport at about 1:10 in the afternoon.

The coast guard men later handed him over to Potenga police station. A case has been recorded with Potenga police in connection with the incident
