CHTDB implements 27 projects costing Taka 26.27 cr BSS, Rangamati The government has instructed the Chitagong Hill Tracts Development Board (CHTDB) to implement 27 development projects at a cost of Taka 26.27crore during the 2007-08 fiscal year. Of the projects, 16 are being implemented at a cost of Taka 16.38 crore and 11 new projects at a cost of Taka 9.89 crore. Besides, to ensure beter road communication in three Hill districts of Rangamati, Khagrachhari and Bandarban, the CHTDB has been implementing 17 projects at a cost of Taka 15.71 crore. The government has released Taka one crore for implementing a socio-economic development project with a view to creating job facilities in the region for backward Hill people, officials said adding that the government has also released Taka 1.20 crore for rehabilitating 300 homeless people at Khagrachhari. A total of Taka 1.10 crore was allocated for establishing a residential school at Khagrachhari Hill district in order to provide beter education to the children living in Hill districts. Under a rehabilitation programme Taka 75 lakh was allocated among the marginal and landless farmers in the hill districts for orange and mixed fruit cultivation while Taka 1.04 crore for infrastructure development in the tribal areas, sources said. Under the upland setlement project (2nd Phase) Taka 2.50 crore has been allocated while Taka 60 lakh was allocated for integrated hilly farm development project The Chitagong Hill tract affairs ministry has allocated Taka 50 lakh for construction of a rest house and Taka 25 lakh for construction of a bus terminal construction at Lama under Bandarban Hill district Besides, Taka 1.62 crore was given for construction of the office complex of CHTDB.
