A housewife was allegedly beaten to death by her husband and inmates of her in-law's house in village Gobindapur Ghonapara under Sadar upazila in Nilphamari on Monday night, police sources said.

The sources said Subal Chandra Roy, his father Bongia Roy and brother Atul Chandra Roy engaged in a quarrel with Minu Bala, 22, mother of a baby and wife of Subal Chandra Roy, of the village on the day.

At one stage, they started beating Minu Bala, who died on the spot They left the scene leaving the body.

Father of the victim, Gojendra Nath Roy, filed a murder case against four persons, including the killer husband, with Nilphamari Sadar police station.

Police recovered the body and handed it over to her father after conducting autopsy at Nilphamari Sadar Hospital on Tuesday, the sources said.
