Help the distressed people first
Replying to the question at a discussion held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre,BBC Bangla Shanglap organised by BBC Bangla Service held on August 4, what the politicians said amazed me. The question was 'Why the politicians are not coming forward to help the flood affected people'.
Both the leaders of the BNP and AL mentioned the ban on indoor politics as the main reason. Helping the suffering people is everyone's duty, what has politics to do with it? Our political parties always brag that all the people are with them, but are they with the people? They go door to door begging for votes, why are they not going now to help those who are in dire need of it? Peoples eyes have been opened, they have realised that the politicians do not care for the people, their only aim is to go to power.
Army Chief General Moeen U Ahmed urged all, irrespective of party and opinion to come forward in aid of the flood victims. But we think the political parties will remain rigid and will not help the distressed people for their selfish atitude, it would be a grave mistake because in the next general election people will shun those who did not come forward to help them.
