Cash money distributed among river erosion-hit people in Gaibandha BSS, Gaibandha Akota, a local NGO, distributed cash money among the ultra poor and river erosion hit people of Sundarganj Upazila in the district on Thursday. Sources said, Chars Livelihoods Programme (CLP) working in the district for the development of Socio-economic condition of Chars people, provided the fund under its rehabilitation activities. UNO of Sundarganj Upazila Mohammad Barat Hossain Chowdhury inaugurated the distribution programme among the river erosion victims at the field office of Akota at Banglabazar under Horipur Union of the Upazila as chief guest A total of 85 poor and river erosion hit families of Horipur and Kapasia Unions under Sundarganj Upazila were given Taka 2.55 lakh on the day. Each of the families got Taka 3000 for mitigating their sufferings due to erosion. Earlier, the organisation also distributed Taka 2.64 lakh among 88 river erosion victims of the unions on Sept 04 under the same programme. Meanwhile A day-long training programme on 'social development activities' for the women organised by HEED Bangladesh, a voluntary organisation, was held at its Sadar Upazila unit office on Sept 17. James Koraia and Rafiel Tushar Chakrabarty of the organisation conducted the training sessions. A total of 25 women from Ballamjhar and Boali Unions under Sadar Upazila took part in the training. They were imparted training on the issues of necessities of organisation, leader, leadership quality, women rights, women empowerment
