Massive T-Aman cultivation plan taken in Chuadanga Our Correspondent, Chuadanga Chuadanga District Agriculture Extension Department has been implementing transplanted Aman paddy cultivations programme in the district for the current season. District DAE said as a part of the programme 45,225 hectres have been brought under Aman cultivation during the current season in for upazilas of the Chuadanga district Chuadanga Sadar, Alamdanga, Damurhuda and Zebonnagar. The sources said the cultivation work of transplanted Aman during the current season in the district is expected to be completed within the next 20 days. The sources mentioned that a total of 7800 hectares of land were brought under transplanted Aman paddy cultivation in the district On the other hand, there are standing transplanted Aus paddy on 8600 hectares of land in all the four upazilas of the district District DAE gave break up of aus paddy cultivation in all the four upazilas of the district as 2600 hectares in Chuadanga Sadar, 1000 hectares in Alamdanga, 1800 hectares in Damurhuda and 3200 hectares in Zebonnagar upazilas. At total of 145000 tons of transplanted Amon paddy is expected to be produced in the district during this cultivation season, the sources said. On the other hand, about 13000 metric tons of transplanted Aus paddy is expected to be produced in the district during this season, the source said and added, the condition of both transplanted Aman and Aus paddy in the district is satisfactory. Besides, a total of 54500 maunds of sweet pumpkin worth Taka 5.20 crore were produced in the four upazilas of the district, DAE source said. Chuadanga district is one of the largest pumpkin producing areas of the country. Thousands of maunds of pumpkin are being sold to the vegetable traders of Dhaka and Chitagong annually. The DAE said there are standing sugarcane crop on 1500 acres of land in the Chuadanga district which will be crushed in Darsana Sugar Mills during next season.
