19 killed in separate incidents UNB, Banderban A middle aged woman and her daughter were slaughtered at Muslimpara in Ruma upazila headquarter Sunday. The dead were identified as Laila Khatun,50 and her daughter Rokhsana Begum,28. Police said some unidentified assailants slaughtered the two women after entering into their house. Laila's husband Lalu Miah found the bodies when he returned home. Police said they might have been killed following past enmity. None was arrested. UNB from Comilla: A sexagenarian man was crushed under the wheels of a bus at Dighalgaon area in Barura upazila Monday afternoon. Police said Prafulla Chandra Bhoumik, 65, of village Hugli of the upazila, was injured critically when the Barura-bound passenger bus ran over him at about 4pm. Prafulla was rushed to Barura Upazila Health Complex where doctors on-duty declared him dead. In another accident in Habiganj, a middle-aged man was crushed under the wheels of a train at Lenchapara area in Shaestaganj upazila early Monday. Witnesses said the man, aged around 55, was cut into pieces under the wheels of the train near Shaestaganj railway junction at Dawn. Police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue for autopsy. UNB from Laxmipur reports: An electrician was electrocuted at the district Collectorate Mosque Monday afternoon. Police said Sohag, 30, son of Shahjahan of Gouripur village in Sadar upazila, came in contact with a live electric wire while repairing a electric supply line of the mosque in the afternoon, leaving him seriously injured. Local people rushed him to the Lxmipur Sadar Hospital morgue where the duty doctors declared Shohag dead. In another incident in Habiganj, a farmer was killed in lightning strike at Hafizpur village in Bahubal upazila Monday afternoon. Witnesses said a streak of thunderbolt hit Kutub Mia, 40, when he was working in his cropland in the afternoon, killing him instantly. UNB from Patuakhali: A young farmer was killed and tree others sustained serious burn injuries in lightning strike at Alipur village in Dasmina upazila here on Wednesday morning. The deceased was identified as Ershadul Haq, 22, of the village. Alipur Union Parishad chairman said thunderbolt struck Ershadul, Jasim, Bashir and Belal at about 9 am while they were sowing seeds in a field. Ershadul died on the spot The injured were admited to a local hospital. Another report from Chitagong says: Two people were killed and four others injured in a fatal road accident at Baro Aulia in Sitakunda upazila here Wednesday. One of the dead was identified as Shamsuddin, a bus driver. Local people said the mishaps took place as a covered van collided with a speeding bus leaving Shamsudin dead on the spot and injuring five people at bout 8am. Amont the injured, unidentified van driver died on way to a local hospital. UNB from Jessore reports: A young housewife was beaten to death allegedly by her husband for dowry at Hidia village in Abhoynagar upazila Monday night The victim was identified as Naznin Nahar wife of Golder Biswas of the village. Local people said Golder married Naznin, daughter of Khorsed Ali of the same village six years ago. He took about Tk 90,000 from the poor father of Naznin as dowry on various occasions. Recently he again put pressure on Naznin to bring more Tk 29,000 from her father as dowry. On the fateful night Golder locked in an altercation with Naznin as she refused to bring the money from her father. At one stage he beat her severely, leaving her dead on the spot On information, police recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue from autopsy. They also arrested the killer husband. A case was filed. UNB from Bogra adds: Ten banana traders were killed and another was injured in a tragic road accident at Rajapur in Sherpur upzila here early Wednesday. Seven of the deceased were identified as Abdul, Monir Hossain, Nabab Ali, Monu Mia, Shahid Hossain, Akram Hossain and Soleman Ali while the identities of the rest three could ot be known immediately. Police said the accident occurred at 4:30 am when a Bogra bound sand loaded truck along with 11 banana traders on board from Dhaka stumbled over a pothole and fell into a roadside ditch. The injured, Jahangir, was admited to Bogra Mohammed Ali Hospital. the eleven traders from Rajendrapur area of Gazipur district were going to Bogra for buying banana, police said. The driver and the helper of the truck managed to flee soon after the accident
