President Professor Dr Iajuddin Ahmed emphasised on imparting moral education to the students to turn them into efficient human resources for the development of the country.

Without morality, education alone couldn't make a man perfect and fulfil the hopes and aspirations of the nation, he said.

Bangladesh needs highly skilled and knowledgeable human resources for her rapid and sustained development, he said while addressing the 4th convocation of Asian University at Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre yesterday.

"With the emergence of globalisation, it has created immense competition among the nation, which can be responded only by harnessing skilled and efficient human resources," the president said.

He said, 'this should be seen in a holistic way and would be a combination of morality and capability.'

A teacher is the guide, philosopher and a trusted friend of a students as rational human beings, he said adding, 'I believe teachers must have a commitment towards the nation, which inspire them to discharge duties with utmost sincerity and dedication.'

The president, also the Chancellor of the university, said it is important that the members of the society take care of each other sharing both sorrows and happiness.

I am happy to see that the nation stood besides the flood-affected people in the recent time.

Reminding the students, the Chancellor said that this life is not so easy rather it is highly challenging and 'therefore, I hope you would be competent enough to face it

Former chief justice Mostafa Kamal atended the convocation ceremony as Convocation Speaker while Vice-Chancellor of Asian University of Bangladesh (AUB) Prof Abul Hasan M Sadeq in the chair.

UGC chairman Prof Nazrul Islam, Members of Trustees Board of Governors of AUB, faculty members, graduate students and guardians atended the programme.

President Professor Dr Iajuddin Ahmed handed over the Chancellor Award to Mohammed Mainul Islam Chowdhury while Shamim Ahmed to VC Award.
