A woman was killed allegedly by her son at Deuli village in Boalmari upazila Saturday night

Police said Surja Begum, 55, went to sleep on the veranda at night but later family members found her body tied up with her bed.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue for autopsy. They also arrested her son Ilias Hossain in this connection.

Police said a case was filed against Ilias for killing a widow of the village recently. Police suspected that Ilias strangulated his mother to death to implicate the plaintiff of the widow murder case. Another report from Rajbari adds: Halimunnesa, 30, wife of Mostafa Fakir was beaten allegedly by her brothers-in-law and their wives at Gendabeparipara in Goalanda upazila following a land dispute on Saturday.

She died on way to local hospital. The assailants went into hiding. A case was filed.
