A man and his spouse sustained severe burn injuries as his elder brother hurled acid at them following a dispute over their paternal land at Shankarpur village in Sharsha upazila early Sunday.

The injured were identified as Sirajul Islam, son of Omar Ali of the village and his wife Mahima Khatun.

Sources said Sirajul had a dispute over a piece of their paternal land with his elder brother Rafiqul since long. As a sequel to the enmity Rafiqul threw acid on Sirajul and Mahima through the window at about 2:30 am when they were sleeping in their bedroom, leaving them critically injured.

They were rushed to the Navaron Hospital. Rafiqul went into hiding soon after the incident

A case was filed with the police.
