Mass participation in CDMP urged for disaster risk reduction Speakers in a workshop on Thursday at Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre (BPATC) emphasised on community participation in disaster preparedness programmes, strengthening GO-NGO partnership, beter understanding on technical assessment and local resource mobilization for an effective disaster management mechanism across the country. The views were expressed in the Risk Reduction Sharing Workshop organised by BPATC and Comprehensive Disaster Management Programme (CDMP) under the Ministry of Food and Disaster Management The workshop was a follow up event of field visit by the participants of 47th Senior Staff Course in the CDMP working areas in Lalmonirhat, Shunamgonj, Shirajgonj and Faridpur districts. A total of 24 joint Secretary to the Government of Bangladesh are participating in the course. The field experience on disaster risk reduction initiatives were presented by Md. Jahirul Hoq, ABM Khorshed Alam, Apurba Kumar Biswas and Ahmedur Rahim. MDS of BPATC Md. Ashraf Hossain moderated the working sessions while the programme was addressed among others by Mohshina Ferdousi, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Food and Disaster Management, Ian Rector, Chief Technical Advisor of CDMP. The participants appreciated the CDMP initiatives for Community Risk Assessment and community empowerment for risk reduction and sustainable development
