The wife of imprisoned Tarique Rahman, Jubaida Rahman yesterday met with her mother-in-law, detained former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia at the Special Jail at the Snagshad Bhaban area.

Zubaida Rahman is the first among her relatives visited the BNP Chairperson, who was arrested and sent to jail on Monday. "Zubaida Rahman was with her mother-in-law for 35 minutes and discussed about the condition of Arafat Rahman Koko, who was sent to jail yesterday (Thursday)," DIG (Prison-Dhaka) Major Shamsul Haider Siddique told this journalist last evening.

Arafat Rahman Koko, who was arrested along with her mother, was produced before the court yesterday after police remand.

Begum Zia and her younger son Koko were detained on corruption charges involving awarding of a Tk 1,000 crore (multi-million dollars) government contract abusing power, when she was leading the administration as the Prime Minister.

Begum Zia and Zubaida Rahman also discussed family maters during their meeting, Major Shamsul Haider Sidiqui added.
