A two-year-old baby drowned at a pond at Shahapara village in Sadar upazila on Tuesday. Local people said Swapan, 2, son of Sultan, suddenly slipped into a nearby pond and drowned when he went out of the house with his grandmother. In another incident, a youth was arrested on charge of raping and killing a primary schoolgirl at Mirgar Modyapara in Sadar upazila on Monday.

When produced the court granted killer Jasimuddin Babu, 19, three-day police remand. Police said he murdered Rimu, daughter of Imamuddin, after rape on August 8.
