Participants at a daylong workshop held at a local hotel here on Tuesday underscored the need for joint efforts of all stakeholders in society to resist all sorts of violence and repression on women in any form for a happy and peaceful society.

They also stressed the need for a social campaign, particularly among the vulnerable hardcore poor groups and for proper enforcement of all relevant laws as the efforts of the government or any other single organisation are not sufficient to stop such social crimes.

Bangladesh Rural Improvement Foundation (BRIF) under the technical assistances of the Souhardo programme of CARE-Bangladesh organised the workshop titled "We Demand Eradication of All Sorts of Violence and Repression on Women."

Project Coordinator of BRIF M Shamsul Alam presided over the workshop that was atended by chairman of Rangpur Pourasabha AKM Abdur Rouf Manik as the chief guest

Commissioners of Rangpur Pourasabha Arzina Begum, Farida Begum, Programme Manager of BRIF Tohura Akhter and Advocate Shameema Akhter Shirin, among others, addressed the workshop.

Some 50 people, including NGO and human rights activists, public representatives and leaders of the slum community dwellers, elite and professionals and women leaders of the society took part
