Environment Directorate officials here seized 320 kgs of polythene sheets worth Tk 50,000 from a launch Tuesday. Sources said the sheets were packed in two cartons marked as Khan & Sons Jutex Limited and a case was filed against Asaduzzaman, manager of the company and Sanjoy Duta, clerk of the launch. Local Environment Directorate sources said they seized more than 1000 kilograms of polythene sheets from different parts of Barisal division in 80 separate drives. They filed 89 cases, arrested one and realized Tk 6000 in fine during the period.

The operation will continue, said Kaiser Ahmed, deputy director- in-charge of the directorate.
