Highwaymen looted cash and other valuables worth about Tk 5 lakh from the passengers of a bus at Bajitpur in Sadar upazila on Friday night, leaving 14 passengers injured. Witnesses said some robbers in the guise of passengers boarded the Jhalakati bound bus from Dhaka.

When the bus reached near Bajitpur on Faridpur-Barisal highway the bandits swooped on the passengers and looted their gold ornaments, cash and other belongings at gunpoint

The gang beat and stabbed 14 passengers when they tried to resist them. The injured were admited to the local hospital.
