Four bidi traders were sentenced to five years imprisonment by a tribunal here on Wednesday for evading tax using fake band-roll.

The court also fined the convicts M Jalil Sheikh, Aiyub Ali, M Nasir and Abdur Rahim Sheikh Tk 5,000 each, in default, to suffer one year RI more. According to the prosecution, Detective Branch of police raided a bidi factory at Mohonpur in Pangsha upazila and seized fake band-rolls worth about Tk one lakh on September 27, 2003.
