Flood victims need food, shelter in Manirampur

Over flooded water of the river Kapatakhia has inundated the vast areas of Jhampa and Mashim Nagar Unions. The people of the area have been suffering much. Due to scarcity of food and shelter they are passing hard days.

According to the report, Seven villages of Moshin Nagar Union were flooded. The villages are: Chakla, Kasmat Chokla. Nowali, Bharatpur Laksmipur and Perkhujura. Four thousand people under 5 hundred family were affected. On the otherhand, Jhampa village of Jhampa Union is also flooded. Two hundred twenty-five kancha and semi pacca houses were damages of the villages. Besides about 5 hundred hectars of Aman paddy, a good number of vegetable and coton land were also damaged. Fishes of 17 embankment and 60 ponds with 3 bawer were drift away.

According to the reliable source relif operation among the ilfated people is not satisfactory.

Recently Deputy Commissioner distributed relief materials among the flood-hit people. But the volume of the materials was very poor, sources added. On the other hand on August 16 headed by Captain Israfil Alam 5 kg of rice were distributed among 3 hundred family. On the day Dr Sk Keramot Ali distributed medicine among the patient of the villages. Union Chairman Adv Gofur, PIO Md Anwarul Islam and Dr Jahingir Hossain were present at that time.
