Govt is not dictating parties to reform: Law Adviser

Adviser for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, and Information Barrister Mainul Hosein yesterday reiterated that the government is not dictating the political parties for making reforms; rather they are working on their own to bring about reconstitution and reforms.

"The present Caretaker Government is working for creating proper atmosphere for holding the general elections in a free and fair manner, he said while newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Zheng Qingdian called on him at his office.

During the meeting, they discussed various matters of bilateral interests, present situation in Bangladesh, reform activities and other issues.

The Chinese envoy termed the friendship between Bangladesh and China as historic and very warm and said there are effective relations between the two countries in various fields, including economy, culture and information.

Mentioning exchange of information as a vital field in bilateral relations between Dhaka and Beijing he hoped that exchange of media representatives between the two countries would expand further.

The Chinese envoy expressed the interest of his government to welcoming any move of Bangladesh news agencies in setting up their offices and appointing correspondents in China.

The Adviser assured the Chinese envoy of providing all cooperation in this regard.
