2000 chickens culled in Rajbari, owners panicked

More than 500 chickens of a poultry farm at Jibannagar died of bird flu Sunday night creating panic among the farm owners who are selling chickens at distressed price. Veterinary officer Dr Zillur Rahman on Monday visited the bird flue affected poultry farms in Jibannagar upazila.

Four goats died at Chuadanga Goat Farm today. The farm official Ansar Ali claimed that the goats died in heat wave.

Another report from Rajbari said about 2,000 poultry birds of a farm affected by the bird flue and domestic birds within 1km radius of Dhunchi Atash Collony in sadar upazil were culled on Sunday night. Some 1,040 chickens of the poultry farm and 712 domestic chickens, 180 ducks, 36 pigeons and their eggs were all destroyed at 9 pm. Deputy director of Livestock Department Phani Bhushan Mondal said they launched the drive with the help of joint forces.
