40 companies participate in Kolkata fair

A total of 40 Bangladeshi manufacturing and exporting companies participated in the Kolkata fair that ended recently.
Representative companies from EPB participate in the fair organised annually to consolidate and expand the export markets of Bangladeshi products in the northeastern region of India.
Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) received export orders worth Tk 342.5 million (34 crore and 25 lakh) at the industrial trade fair.
The fair was opened by West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Basu. Adviser to the Commerce Ministry of Bangladesh Barkatulla Bulu visited the fair.
Bangladeshi companies manufacturing furniture, melamine tableware, jute products, foodstuff, consumer products and jamdani saree got instant export orders from the local companies. Bangladeshi companies drew positive response from the buyers and visitors. Bangladesh pavilion got a special award in the fair.
The major products put on display in the fair were melamine tableware, foodstuff, furniture, cosmetics and toiletries, kitchenware, cold drinks, jute-made products, silk products, jamdani saree, handicrafts, glass sheet, fancy bag, etc.
