The well-marked low over west of Jessore and adjoining area moved west-northwestwards, intensified into a land depression and lies over West Bengal and adjoining area Friday morning.

It is likely to move in a northwesterly direction further inland, said a special bulletin of the Met office.

"Steep pressure gradient persists over North Bay and squally weather may continue over the ports," it said.

Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar and Mongla have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three ® three. All fishing-boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to remain in shelter until further notice.
