Police arrested Moniruzzaman Sharif, a Ward Commissioner of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC), from his office at Seroil Colony under Boalia Thana in the city on Thursday night.
According to police sources, he was arrested under Section 16(2) of the Emergency Powers Rule at around 10 PM.
Police produced him before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court that sent him to jail.
Several allegations like terrorism activities, land forgery and grabbing have been pending against him, the sources said.
Earlier, on January 12 last, the joint forces arrested him in connection with various offences and he was released after around one month of his arrest.
