Plan to maintain peace: Pakistan to expand ties with Bangladesh

Pakistan wants to strengthen the relationship with Bangladesh with a view to maintaining the peace and stability in the country, said security expert of Pakistan Dr Parvez Iqbal Chima.

He said this at a seminar on "The role of Pakistan in stability and security of South Asia" at Senate Building of Dhaka University yesterday.

Dr Chima, Chairman of Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI), said Pakistan is playing a role to check the international terrorism extending support to the American activities in this region.

"Pakistan is trying to maintain the stability in South Asia especially with India," He said.

Prof Dr Ataur Rahman, President of Bangladesh Political Science Association, presided over the function while Chairman of CDRB Prof Dr Mizanur Rahman Shelly and Brigadier Khadim Hossain of Pakistan, among others, addressed the seminar as guest of honour.

Mizanur Rahman Shelly stressed the need for building up relationship among the South Asian`s people to make a strong structure that will help sustain our economic growth.

"We have to take step to resolve issues especially the prevention of terrorism and to strengthen the relationship among India, Bangladesh and Pakistan," said Prof Ataur Rahman.

He said, "We can play key role in the world if we work solving some issues that existed among us."
