Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd announced its certification by the United Kingdom Medicine Registration Authority (UK MHRA). The pharmaceutical company is the first Bangladeshi company to obtain this certificate.
With this approval, Square Pharma could start exporting its finished pharmaceutical products to the UK, having a total market size of about 30 billion US dollar.
This was disclosed at a press conference organised by Square Pharmaceutical Ltd at Dhaka Reporters Unity in the city yesterday.
Parvez Hashim, Executive Director of Operations, KM Saiful Islam, Director of Sales, Mizanur Rahman, Deputy General Manager of Marketing of Square Pharmaceutical Ltd, among others, were present on the occasion.
Speakers said, "The UK MHRA approval is one of the toughest registration processes in the world to register pharmaceutical products for marketing and distribution in the UK. It takes a lot of rigorous processes to comply with the registration requirements for getting the approval from the UK MHRA, starting from raw material sourcing to all production processes, quality control processes and quality assurance processes, finally leading to the total quality-checks of the finished products."
This approval process also involves through inspection and auditing of the designing of the manufacturing plant, selection of the machinery and equipments, system and purified water system of the plant to ensure that the entire plant is strictly maintaining the manufacturing environment as per the MHRA requirements, they added.
This approval will help the Square Pharma to enter into the regulated pharmaceutical market like other European countries, Australia, South Africa and the Gulf countries in near future, speakers said.
