With a view to establishing "Grameen America," a bank for the poor in the United States, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus held talks in Washington on May 17.

The meeting was held in a very cordial atmosphere. At the beginning of the meeting, former US First Lady Hillary Clinton welcomed Dr Muhammad Yunus in the United States. It may be mentioned that establishment of "Grameen America" is going on in New York for the lower income group of people or extreme poor following the structure of Grameen Bank of Bangladesh.

Senator Hillary Clinton thinks that the "Grameen America" would make significant contributions for changing the fate of poor Americans.

It may be mentioned that Dr Muhammad Yunus arrived in Washington to take part in the hearing of Senate Finance Committee under the US trade priority plans.
